Stroke hits suddenly, without warning. It can leave the whole family dazed and confused. Once speech therapy has expired, families are left with a lot of questions and no one to answer them. I always tell people to ask as many questions as you can while still in speech therapy. But if you still have questions, there are folks WHO CAN HELP.

No, this is not an oxymoron. SLPs (Speech & Language Pathologists) need to understand the business side of the speech & language ummm ….business.
This is to notify you that that a new document, "Knowledge and Skills in Business Practices Needed by Speech-Language Pathologists in Health Care Settings," is now available for peer review. It was developed by the Ad Hoc Committee on Business Practices for Speech-Language Pathologists in Health Care Settings, chaired by LeeAnn C. Golper, with members Evie Hagerman, Pete Johnson, Ann W. Kummer, Patricia A. Rogers, John M.Torrens, Janet Brown, ex officio, and Alex Johnson, 2000-2002 Vice President for Professional Practices in Speech-Language Pathology.
Please go to
http://professional.asha.org/pr-hb.cfm to download the documents and complete the peer review. Your peer review must be submitted on or before September 20, 2002 in order for the committee to make any necessary revisions to the documents prior to its consideration for adoption. If you would like to receive a hard copy of the documents and peer review forms, please contact the Action Center at 800-498-2071.

As some of you may have heard, we had twin girls last year. My wife, Terri, is pregnant again and due next month. In honor of that, I thought the following might be in order:
Daddy Love
One night a wife found her husband standing over their baby's crib. Silently she watched him.
As he stood looking down at the sleeping infant, she saw on
his face a mixture of emotions: disbelief, doubt, skepticism.
Touched by this unusual display and the deep emotions it
aroused, with eyes glistening she slipped her arm around her husband.
"A penny for your thoughts," she said.
"It's amazing!" he replied. "I just can't see how anybody can
make a crib like that for only $46.50."
